A contemporary take on the traditional Irish potato baskets by Hanna Van Aelst.
Traditionally Irish potato basket were made to strain and serve potatoes. The basket was carried outside, the cooked potatoes were strained through it, then brought inside and put on the cooking pot, a stump of wood or even on the floor. The family would sit around the basket to eat. This meant that the skib effectively was the table and that is why they frequently were so large. Once finished the basket was rinsed and hung on the outside wall to dry.

Small: Dimensions: 30cm inside diameter x 7cm deep

These hand woven baskets also come in medium & large.
